Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province is making an all-out effort to secure national funds for disaster prevention projects to ensure the safety of its citizens.
On May 9, Vice Mayor Yoon Dongwook and senior officials from Jeonju City visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to explain the validity and necessity of six disaster prevention projects planned for 2026 and 2027, and requested 38.3 billion won in national funding.

View original imageVice Mayor Yoon requested national budget support for four projects to improve areas at risk of landslides, which are scheduled for next year. He also emphasized that the two projects to improve areas designated as natural disaster risk zones, planned for 2027, are essential for citizen safety. He requested support to ensure these projects are selected when applications are submitted next year.
In this regard, the city is currently carrying out disaster prevention projects in eight districts with national funding support. By securing national funds, Jeonju City is systematically improving disaster-prone areas located near residential zones, fundamentally addressing vulnerabilities such as flooding, erosion, and collapse, and contributing to the protection of citizens' lives and property.
The city plans to continue identifying new disaster prevention projects to improve citizens' living environments and take the lead in protecting lives and property.
Vice Mayor Yoon stated, "We will do our utmost to secure the maximum possible national budget to eliminate disaster risk factors in our daily lives and protect the lives and property of our citizens."
