Sincere Stories That Resonate and Evoke Empathy
On May 7, Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province presented a moving performance featuring isolated and reclusive youth who participated directly in a special performance during the staff regular meeting held at the Yangsan Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
On stage that day, young people with real experiences of isolation and reclusion appeared and candidly shared their stories for over 80 minutes, addressing issues such as irregular employment, housing insecurity, family breakdown, and periods of depression and isolation. The performance delivered a heartfelt impression to both public officials and citizens in the audience.
One of the isolated and reclusive youth who participated in the performance said, "Things that might seem easy to others were extremely difficult for me," and added, "However, I am truly proud that I found the courage to participate, and I believe this experience will become a turning point in my life."
Yangsan City announced that it will continue to discover the voices of youth on the ground and ensure that these are meaningfully reflected in the design and implementation of policies.
