Do You Know the "Audit Assurance System" That Enhances School Construction Reliability? Gyeongbuk Office of Education to Pilot 11 Cases This Year
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jongshik) announced on May 9 that it will pilot the "Audit Assurance System" this year to reduce the burden of school contract work and enhance the reliability and transparency of administration.
The "Audit Assurance System" is a program that provides consulting and guidance at each stage, from the initiation to the completion of contract projects directly ordered by schools. Projects that faithfully implement the consulting are exempted from comprehensive audits. This is a preventive audit model designed to prevent repeated mistakes and administrative errors at schools in advance, with the aim of enhancing both the professionalism and autonomy of school administration.
This pilot program will be implemented for a total of 11 cases (6 cases of pre-consulting for facility construction and 5 cases of post-inspection for routine audits).
The "pre-consulting for facility construction" applies to construction projects with an estimated cost of 30 million KRW or more ordered by public kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools. The target schools have already been selected and the program is currently underway.
The "post-inspection for routine audits" will be conducted for construction, goods, and service projects directly ordered by public and private schools. After receiving a routine audit, the implementation results will be inspected. In July 2025, projects will be selected based on a comprehensive consideration of project scale and importance.
Sung Chiwoo, Audit Director of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, stated, "The Audit Assurance System is an innovative attempt to enhance the reliability and transparency of school administration," adding, "Based on the results of the 2025 pilot program, we plan to widely gather feedback from schools and then consider whether to continue and expand the system."
