'Ultra-Slim' Galaxy S25 Edge Features Corning 'Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2'
Strength Enhanced by Glass-Crystal Synergy
Product Specifications and Features to Be Unveiled at Unpacked Event on May 13
On May 9, Samsung Electronics announced that it has applied Corning's "Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2" to the front display of the "Galaxy S25 Edge."
With this, the company explained that it has added durability to the S25 Edge, the thinnest Galaxy S series model to date. Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 is manufactured by intricately embedding crystals into its primary glass material. This maintains high optical transparency while enhancing strength through the synergy between the glass and the crystals. The durability of the display cover has also been improved through an ion-exchange process. Samsung optimized this for the Galaxy S25 Edge using its proprietary processing and strengthening technologies.
Samsung Electronics plans to unveil detailed specifications and features of the product at the "Galaxy S25 Edge: Beyond Slim" Unpacked event, which will be held online at 9 a.m. on May 13 via Samsung Newsroom and Samsung.com.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics and Corning have maintained a partnership for over 50 years, beginning with the establishment of a joint venture in 1973 to supply TVs in Korea. Corning's "Gorilla Glass" has been applied to every Galaxy S series model, including the earliest Galaxy S.
Andrew Beck, Vice President and General Manager of Corning's Mobile Consumer Electronics division, said, "With the application of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we have delivered premium design and outstanding performance to consumers," adding, "This demonstrates Corning and Samsung's commitment to meeting the evolving expectations of consumers."
