This event, held in conjunction with the Gokseong World Rose Festival, will be a "themed night market" that showcases the unique character and culture of the Gokseong Traditional Market. It will operate as a complex marketplace featuring food, performances, hands-on experiences, and resident participation events.
The county aims to establish a sustainable themed night market brand that preserves the identity of the traditional market while also reflecting modern consumer trends, thereby attracting not only local residents but also tourists from outside the region.
The event venue will be divided into "Gourmet Station," "Play Station," and "Music Station," where visitors will be welcomed with specialty menus and experiential content planned directly by local merchants. Merchants will apply a unified theme?including headscarves, aprons, and stall designs?to present a consistent image for the traditional market night market.
Main programs include: ▲ On the 16th, cultural and artistic performances, an on-site karaoke, and "Beat the Merchant" event; ▲ On the 17th, the official opening ceremony of the Chikchikpokpok Night Market (including congratulatory speeches and an awards ceremony), a Gokseong township and village yutnori competition, and an EDM party; ▲ On the 18th, the 3·8 Merchant Song Contest and on-site karaoke, as well as a familiarization tour and an event inviting external tourists. Notably, each evening after the night market closes, a small business win-win project will be conducted through downtown commercial district revitalization promotions.
Additionally, at the World Rose Festival venue, there will be joint promotions for the rose festival and the traditional market night market, with gift giveaways for visitors at the night market event site. There will also be a performance by the Jeonnam Market Troupe, invited in cooperation with the Jeonnam Merchants Association, as well as tastings and sales of specialty products (such as Sihyangga, tofu, and melon), and operation of special food and experience booths.
This event, in collaboration with Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd., will promote win-win initiatives among the traditional market, Ttukbang Market, and downtown commercial district, and will be organically linked with various local events held throughout Gokseong-eup to increase visitors' length of stay.
Governor Cho Sangrae stated, "The Chikchikpokpok Night Market is not just an ordinary night market, but a branded festival created together by the Gokseong Traditional Market and the local commercial district," adding, "It will be a meaningful event where everyone, from families to local residents, can enjoy and participate together."
