Gwangju Democratic Party Branch to Hold Presidential Election Committee Launch Ceremony on May 8
"Achieving a Change of Government Through an Overwhelming Victory"
The Gwangju branch of the Democratic Party of Korea announced on May 7 that it will hold the "21st Presidential Election Democratic Party of Korea True Republic of Korea Gwangju Election Committee Launch Ceremony" at the party's election liaison office at 11 a.m. on May 8.
The launch ceremony, which marks the official transition to the presidential election system, will be attended by more than 300 people, including Yang Bunam, the Gwangju Election Committee's Chief Standing Election Committee Chair (and head of the Gwangju branch), 12 Standing Election Committee Chairs, Park Jie-won, Co-Chair of the Central Election Committee, and Jung Cheongrae, Gwangju-Jeonnam Chair of the Central Election Committee's Neighborhood Committee.
The ceremony will begin with an opening declaration, followed by the announcement of the election committee appointments, speeches by the standing and central election committee participants, the reading of a resolution for victory in the presidential election, a citizen's speech on the theme of attentive listening, a hand placard performance, and finally, an unveiling ceremony of the committee's achievement goals.
Yang Bunam, Chief Standing Election Committee Chair of the Gwangju Election Committee, stated, "In order to increase candidate Lee Jaemyung's voter turnout, we plan to consolidate our organization by division and launch a firm campaign for voter participation." He added, "At the launch ceremony, we will reaffirm our strong determination to achieve a change of government through an overwhelming victory."
