"Youth, Shining Together"... Yangsan City to Host the 19th Yangsan National Youth Unity Festival
A Festival of National Youth Unity
The 19th Yangsan National Youth Unity Festival, hosted by Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province and jointly organized by the Yangsan Youth Center and Soju Youth Culture House, will take place on May 24 at the riverside park of Yangsancheon.
This year’s festival, under the theme “Youth, Shining Together,” aims to highlight how young people illuminate each other and brighten the world. The event promises a vibrant day filled with various experiences for youth and national youth competitions.
The festival will begin with a commemorative ceremony at 1:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m., with around 1,000 participants including youth and citizens. The ceremony will open with a performance by the Yangsan Youth Choir, followed by the reading of the Youth Charter and awards for distinguished contributors, offering a moment to reflect on the significance and value of youth.
The most anticipated program is the National Youth Competition. On the main stage, a total of 18 teams?9 in music and 9 in performance?will present their honed talents after passing fierce preliminary rounds. In the Club Zone, 15 youth club teams will directly plan and operate experience booths, where a variety of activities will allow both participants and visitors to enjoy and interact, making it a true festival space for all.
In addition, local youth-related organizations such as the Yangsan Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, Out-of-School Youth Center, Yangsan Dream Start, Yangsan Office of Education & Yangsan Career Education Support Center, Yangsan Youth Center, and the Department of Social Welfare at Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology will participate, offering a range of experience programs including popcorn distribution and balloon art. The festival will also feature a cheerleading performance by the Woongsang Youth After-School Academy team, outstanding performance teams from inside and outside the city, and a stage by a popular guest singer recognized among youth, creating a festival atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.
The Yangsan National Youth Unity Festival began in 2003 when the Gyeongnam Youth Unity Festival was first held in Yangsan. Since then, it has established itself as a venue for communication and harmony, with 50 to 70 teams of youth from across the country participating each year to showcase their talents and for various clubs to engage in cultural exchange.
This year as well, youth teams from regions across the country?including Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Daegu, Busan, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan?have advanced through the preliminaries to perform on the final stage.
A city official stated, “Yangsan City will continue to expand diverse cultural programs where youth take center stage, creating festivals that everyone can enjoy and participate in.”
