Yeongdeok County Implements Tax Relief Measures to Overcome Large-Scale Wildfire Damage
Local Tax Relief Plan Established
Full Exemption of Property Tax, Automobile Tax, and Resident Tax
Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province will provide reductions in local taxes, including property tax, automobile tax, and resident tax, following the passage of a local tax reduction proposal at the 314th temporary session of the Yeongdeok County Council held on April 29. This measure was prepared to alleviate the financial burden of residents affected by the recent large-scale wildfire.
Accordingly, Yeongdeok County will grant a full exemption of property tax for 2025 and 2026 on houses, buildings, land, and ships confirmed to have suffered wildfire damage, including those acquired as replacements. For vehicles damaged by the wildfire, including replacement vehicles, the automobile tax for 2025 will be reduced.
Additionally, to help the entire community recover from the shock and pain of the wildfire, all heads of households or individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises with business offices registered in the county will be fully exempt from the regular resident tax for 2025.
This measure will be implemented ex officio by Yeongdeok County based on damage data from the National Disaster Management System (NDMS), so there is no need to apply separately. However, in cases where property damage has not been reported, residents are advised to contact the Local Income Team of the Yeongdeok County Finance Division.
In addition to local tax reductions, Yeongdeok County has also prepared various support measures to ease the burden of local taxes, such as extensions of payment deadlines, deferment of collection, and applications for postponement of tax audits, which can be conveniently applied for and utilized.
