The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has allocated an additional supplementary budget of 109 million won to support victims of digital sex crimes.
On May 2, the ministry announced that it had allocated funds for the advancement of the digital sex crime victim video deletion support system through the first supplementary budget of this year.
Through this supplementary budget, the ministry plans to strengthen system functions by establishing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based deepfake detection and tracking system and automating the deletion request process. This budget was increased during the National Assembly's review of the government's supplementary budget proposal in order to enhance the response to digital sex crimes such as deepfakes and to provide stronger support for victims.
As a result of this supplementary budget, the ministry's annual budget for this year has increased from 1.7777 trillion won to 1.7788 trillion won.
