Yongin City Achieves Triple Crown in Gyeonggi Province Local Tax Management Evaluation
Triple Crown in Revenue Sector:
Grand Prize in Non-Tax Revenue Operation,
Excellence Awards in Local Tax Administration and Delinquency Management
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 2 that it received the "Excellence Award" in the "2025 Local Tax Delinquency Management Comprehensive Evaluation" conducted by Gyeonggi Province. The city explained that, with this award, it has achieved a triple crown in the revenue sector, having previously received the Excellence Award in the "Comprehensive Local Tax Administration Evaluation" and the Grand Prize in the "Comprehensive Non-Tax Revenue Operation Evaluation."
This "Comprehensive Local Tax Delinquency Management Evaluation" divided 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province into five groups according to the scale of delinquent taxes. The evaluation covered 28 items in three areas: performance in delinquency resolution, enforcement of dispositions, and implementation of delinquency collection policies.
Despite challenging revenue conditions caused by the economic downturn and high inflation, the city received high marks for its intensive collection activities, including public auctions of real estate and vehicles, home searches and seizure of movable property, and license plate seizures.
Previously, in March, the city also received the Excellence Award in the "Comprehensive Local Tax Administration Evaluation" for its taxpayer convenience initiatives, such as promoting electronic notifications, operating village tax advisors, and providing information on acquisition tax reduction programs. The city also achieved stable revenue collection, collecting 2.1168 trillion won in local taxes, an increase of 54.2 billion won compared to the previous year.
In particular, in the "Comprehensive Non-Tax Revenue Operation Evaluation," the city received the highest grade, the "Grand Prize," for securing 7.8 billion won worth of city-owned property previously omitted in the Dongbaek District, collecting approximately 60 million won annually in usage fees from the relevant facilities, and increasing interest income, thereby being recognized for securing new revenue sources and boosting interest income.
