Kang Sungcheon Inaugurated as President of Gyeonggi Research Institute, Oh Huseok as President of Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute on May 1
On May 1, Kang Sungcheon, former President of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, was inaugurated as President of the Gyeonggi Research Institute, the 'think tank' of Gyeonggi Province. Oh Huseok, former Second Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gyeonggi Province, was inaugurated as President of the Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute on the same day.
Kang Sungcheon, born in 1964, graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University and earned both his master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Indiana University in the United States. He is an expert in economics who has held key positions in the field, including roles at the Policy Office of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Policy Office of the Presidential Secretariat, Vice Minister of SMEs and Startups, and President of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency.

View original imageIn his inaugural address, Kang Sungcheon stated, "Based on my 33 years of policy experience in central government agencies and my on-site experience as President of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, I will contribute to the development of Gyeonggi Province's administration and the improvement of the quality of life for Gyeonggi residents." He also expressed his ambition to usher in the 'Gyeonggi Research Institute 2.0' era.
To this end, he said, "I will do my utmost to ensure that the Gyeonggi Research Institute, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, can take a leap forward based on the four core values of expertise, credibility, effectiveness, and field orientation." He emphasized, "I will strive to communicate and cooperate with Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Council to achieve further development."
The term of office for the President of the Gyeonggi Research Institute is three years, and the appointment is made by the Chairperson of the Institute's Board of Directors in accordance with the Local Research Institute Act.
Oh Huseok, President of the Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, began his public service career in 1995 through the 38th Civil Service Examination. He is an expert in administration, having accumulated more than 30 years of experience in central government agencies such as Gyeonggi Province, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as well as serving as First Vice Mayor of Yongin City.

He added, "Going forward, I will work to ensure that all residents of the province have equal learning opportunities through the Promotion Institute by cooperating organically with all 31 cities and counties."
He went on to say, "I will strengthen the expertise of internal staff and promote horizontal communication to innovate the organizational culture," expressing his ambitions for organizational management.
