A power outage occurred on the core line of Japan's high-speed Shinkansen railway, causing a suspension of operations for about 90 minutes. The cause was reported to be a short circuit caused by a "snake."
According to NHK, due to a power outage that occurred between Hashima Station in Gifu Prefecture and Maibara Station in Shiga Prefecture on the Tokaido Shinkansen, operations were suspended from around 5:25 p.m. on April 30 on the down line between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations, as well as on the up line between Shin-Osaka and Nagoya stations.
Train operations gradually resumed from around 7:30 p.m., but it is expected to take more time before the Shinkansen returns to its normal schedule.
