View original imageOn April 29, Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience mostly clear weather under the influence of a high-pressure system. The morning will be chilly, and temperatures will rise during the day, resulting in a large temperature difference between day and night.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the region will be affected by a high-pressure system moving from near Shanghai, China, toward the southern sea off Jeju Island on this day.
Morning low temperatures are expected to be 4 degrees Celsius in Jangseong, Damyang, Gokseong, and Hwasun; 5 degrees in Hampyeong, Muan, Naju, Yeongam, Jangheung, Boseong, and Gurye; 6 degrees in Goheung, Haenam, and Yeonggwang; 7 degrees in Gwangju, Suncheon, Gangjin, and Jindo; 8 degrees in Gwangyang and Wando; 9 degrees in Shinan and Mokpo; and 10 degrees in Yeosu.
Daytime high temperatures are forecast to reach 24 degrees Celsius in Gurye; 23 degrees in Damyang, Gokseong, and Hwasun; 22 degrees in Gwangju, Jangseong, Naju, Yeongam, Jangheung, Gangjin, Wando, and Gwangyang; 21 degrees in Boseong, Goheung, and Haenam; 20 degrees in Hampyeong and Muan; 19 degrees in Jindo and Yeonggwang; and 18 degrees in Shinan.
Wave heights are expected to be 0.5 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea and 0.5 to 1 meter in the coastal waters of the South Sea. Fine dust levels are expected to remain at a 'moderate' level.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "Strong winds may cause even small embers to develop into large fires. We urge the public to refrain from entering the mountains, and to be especially careful to prevent wildfires and other types of fires by avoiding the use of fire and burning of trash or agricultural fields during outdoor activities such as hiking and camping."
