This training was organized to strengthen the on-site response capabilities and professional competencies of dedicated child abuse officers, enabling them to respond to child abuse cases quickly and systematically. The training included lectures by Lee Sanghee, Director at the National Center for the Rights of the Child, on "Child Abuse Investigation," and by Cho Saerom, an attorney at the Korea Legal Aid Corporation Gwangju Branch, on "Child Abuse-Related Laws."
The curriculum focused on practical topics, including procedures after receiving a child abuse report, case analyses by type of child abuse, legal action procedures, and understanding of child abuse case precedents. The training was based on real-life cases that public officials encounter in the field, which was evaluated as helpful in improving on-site response capabilities and supporting adaptation to practical work. There was also a session for sharing work information among the autonomous districts. The city plans to focus on preventing child abuse through continuous training and system improvements for dedicated child abuse officers.
Lee Youngdong, Director of the Department of Women and Family, stated, "The competency of dedicated child abuse officers is extremely important for the prevention of and response to child abuse," adding, "We will continue to build a safer Gwangju for children by strengthening ongoing training and practical support."
