Damage to Exterior Walls of Four Houses in Jungheung-dong
Buk-gu District and Construction Company Begin Investigation into the Cause
Residents were urgently evacuated after cracks appeared and tilting was observed in the exterior walls of houses near the construction site of Gwangju Metro Line 2.
According to Buk-gu District and other authorities on April 22, a report was received at around 10:20 p.m. the previous day that cracks had occurred in the walls and exterior walls of four houses near Gwangju Station in Jungheung-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju. Of these, three houses were occupied, and Buk-gu District and fire authorities evacuated six residents to nearby accommodations. The remaining house was confirmed to be vacant.
The affected houses are located around the construction area of Gwangju Metro Line 2. Some residents reportedly sensed warning signs before the incident and filed complaints with construction officials starting in the afternoon.
Buk-gu District and the construction company plan to investigate the exact cause of the cracks. No casualties have been reported so far.
