After the meeting, Kim told reporters, "He expressed hope that, as a presidential candidate, I would carefully address the issue of regional neglect caused by South Korea's development strategy centered on the Seoul metropolitan area."
It is also reported that former President Moon asked Kim to consider including the promotion of the Gadeokdo New Airport as part of his campaign pledges. Additionally, the relocation of the Korea Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Korea to regional areas was mentioned. Kim said, "Since I am a former candidate, he gave me words of encouragement to develop policies that can win the support of the moderate voters."
On the same day, Kim held a press conference announcing his candidacy in Busan, visited the tomb of former President Roh Moo-hyun, paid respects to Mrs. Kwon Yang-sook, and visited Tongdosa Temple in Yangsan, showing his activities in Gyeongnam. The day before, he visited Gwangju.
