Donations of Funds and Supplies for Yeongnam Wildfire Victims Continue in Hongseong County
Gwangcheon-eup Association of Institutional Heads Delivers Donations Worth 33 Million KRW
Seobu-myeon Also Contributes 6.4 Million KRW in Donations
Leaders of organizations and institutions in Gwangcheon-eup, Hongseong County, along with local residents from businesses, are delivering donations and supplies for the wildfire victims in Yeongnam.
View original imageIn Hongseong County, Chungnam, which is conducting a 'countywide fundraising campaign' to help residents affected by wildfires in the Yeongnam region, donations of funds and goods are pouring in from various sectors.
On the morning of the 9th in Gwangcheon-eup, a donation ceremony was held for funds and goods worth about 33 million KRW to aid those affected by the wildfires in Yeongnam. The event was attended by County Governor Lee Yongrok, the Chungnam branch of the Korean Red Cross, heads of local organizations and institutions, local businesses, and residents.
The donations collected included 2 million KRW from the Gwangcheon-eup Residents' Autonomy Committee, 1 million KRW from the Gwangcheon-eup Village Leaders' Council, and a total of 13 million KRW raised through contributions from local organizations, companies, and residents.
As for goods, 1,320 boxes of seasoned seaweed, worth about 20 million KRW, were donated by 16 seasoned seaweed producers in the Gwangcheon area, including Gwangcheon Seasoned Seaweed Producers' Cooperative, Gwangcheon Myungshin Matkim, and Taekyung Foods.
Leaders of organizations in Seobumyeon, who suffered wildfire damage in 2023, are donating funds to Lee Youngrok, the Hongseong County Governor.

In Hongdong-myeon, the Association of Institutional Heads donated 2.7 million KRW to County Governor Lee Yongrok on the afternoon of the 8th, continuing the wave of donations from businesses and residents in the Hongseong area for Yeongnam wildfire relief.
Lee Yongrok, Governor of Hongseong County, said, "I am grateful that organizations, companies, and residents are responding to the countywide fundraising campaign and continuing to donate funds and goods. I hope the warmth of our residents will provide some comfort to those affected by the wildfires in the Yeongnam region."
Meanwhile, Hongseong County, which suffered from the largest wildfires in history over three days in 2023 in the Seobu-myeon and Gyeolseong-myeon areas, is conducting a countywide fundraising campaign for Yeongnam wildfire victims under the slogan, "Let us repay the kindness we received in the past by sharing with others."
