Gwangju Nam-gu Public Officials Deliver Relief Donations to Wildfire Victims
Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 9th that public officials have delivered donations worth 14 million KRW to support disaster victims in Yeongnam, including Uiseong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, which suffered severe damage from a series of wildfires.
Nam-gu public officials began a fundraising campaign on March 31 to comfort those affected by the disaster. Over about a week, they collected a total of 14.16 million KRW, with 718 officials participating in the donation drive.
The donations were deposited into the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea account, and the funds will be used to help disaster victims in the affected areas through the central office of the Community Chest of Korea.
In addition, the Nam-gu Volunteer Center plans to provide support for recovery efforts in wildfire-affected areas within this month, and residents from 17 neighborhoods in the district are also voluntarily participating in a special fundraising campaign.
A Nam-gu official stated, "We share the pain of Yeongnam residents who lost their homes due to unexpected wildfires, and we sincerely hope they can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
