Science and culture come together to offer a variety of experiences and attractions.
This year, the Busan Science Festival will be held from the 12th to the 13th at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1.
Jointly hosted by Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun), and co-organized by the Busan Science and Technology Council and the Busan Creative Convergence Education Center, the Science Festival marks its 24th anniversary this year.
This year’s festival, under the theme "Ensemble of Science and Culture," is designed as a venue to share the delightful harmony of science and culture with citizens and to enjoy science and technology within various cultures.
More than 70 organizations, including national, public, and private science museums and student teams from middle and high schools, will participate in the festival, operating a total of 110 diverse science experience programs.
Four themed science experience zones will be available: Le Tain Playground, Petit Science Museum, Ecole Laboratory, and Science Conte.
In French, "Le Tain" means mischievous, "Petit" means small, "Ecole" means school, and "Conte" means story.
Le Tain Playground is an interactive play area where science and culture meet, offering experiences in music, magic, art, and more. Petit Science Museum showcases science experiences and attractions from basic and advanced science institutions in Busan.
Ecole Laboratory will be set up as a science education experience zone where the Busan Creative Convergence Education Center and student teams from middle and high schools create and present their own science works. At Science Conte, there will be science communication lectures and fusion performances combining science and art. Some programs require advance reservation or are available on a first-come, first-served basis on site.
In addition, various events such as making teaching aids, puzzle games, and large track demonstrations will take place. The opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on April 12, the first day of the event, with about 100 guests and citizens in attendance.
The opening ceremony will feature various events, including the 24th Busan Science and Technology Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements in research and development. This year, the festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and detailed information about the event can be found on the Busan Science Festival website.
