National Heritage Cheong Hosts 'ICOMOS Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting'
Discussion on Climate Change Response and Disaster Management
The Cultural Heritage Administration, together with the ICOMOS Korea Committee and the UNESCO World Heritage International Centre for Interpretation and Presentation, will hold the 'ICOMOS Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting' for three days starting from the 16th at Konkuk University Prime Hall and other venues. ICOMOS is a non-governmental organization of experts dedicated to the conservation and protection of monuments and sites, founded in 1965.

The meeting will be attended by Teresa Patricio, Chairperson of ICOMOS, representatives from national committees of nineteen Asia-Pacific countries, members of international academic committees, and heritage experts. Under the theme 'Current Challenges and Joint Responses for Asia-Pacific Regional Heritage,' they will discuss heritage-related issues and seek countermeasures. A Cultural Heritage Administration official stated, "We plan to discuss climate change response, disaster management, and an integrated approach including Korean principles."
