Muju County Holds Briefing Session on Pilot Project for Apple Pest and Disease Monitoring and Control

On the 8th, Muju County in North Jeolla Province announced that it held a 'Apple Disease and Pest Monitoring and Control Pilot Project Briefing Session' at the Farmers' House of the Agricultural Technology Center.
This briefing session, hosted by the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center and conducted by Muju Fruit Growers Cooperative Association (CEO Kang Manki), was attended by about 100 farmers from six towns and villages, including Muju-eup.
On this day, Jang Il, CEO of the Korea Fruit Disease and Pest Monitoring Center, who served as the lecturer, shared information on ▲the recent weather and disease and pest occurrence in Muju ▲cultivation methods for producing the highest quality fruits ▲effective control methods for major apple diseases and pests.
Shin Sangbeom, Director of the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center, said, “With various diseases and pests caused by abnormal weather posing challenges to apple cultivation, I hope that today’s training will be of great help,” and added, “We will do our best to strengthen the activities of disease and pest monitoring personnel and respond quickly to weather disasters, in order to manage diseases and pests for the production of high-quality, premium apples.”
The county plans to focus on responding to abnormal weather, reducing crop damage, and increasing income this year, and plans to invest approximately 160 million KRW in the apple disease and pest monitoring and control pilot project.
In addition, various technologies will be distributed to enhance apple competitiveness, such as support for cold damage prevention technology (urea and boric acid spraying) to mitigate abnormal weather damage, support for sunshade nets, and projects to prevent cold damage in passageways.
Meanwhile, the Muju Fruit Growers Cooperative Association and the Korea Fruit Disease and Pest Monitoring Research Center signed a disease and pest monitoring agreement on the 2nd and have been continuously conducting disease and pest education and monitoring activities.
