Ecuador Navy Commander Visits Korea... Bilateral Navy Meeting MOU Signed
Cordova to Attend Ship Transfer Ceremony in Mokpo on the 9th
The Commander of the Ecuadorian Navy visited Korea and decided to promote the establishment of a 'Navy-to-Navy Meeting' between Korea and Ecuador.
On the 8th, the Navy announced that Admiral Yang Yong-mo, Chief of Naval Operations, hosted a welcoming ceremony for Admiral Miguel Santiago Cordova Chehap, Commander of the Ecuadorian Navy, at the Naval Headquarters and held a bilateral meeting. This was the first meeting between Admiral Yang and Commander Cordova in about a year since April last year.
Before the bilateral meeting, Admiral Yang and Commander Cordova held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding to establish the Navy-to-Navy Meeting, launching a regular forum to deeply discuss mutual development plans between the two navies.
During the bilateral talks, Admiral Yang and Commander Cordova discussed ways to strengthen military and defense industry cooperation between the two navies, including personnel and educational exchanges and the activation of mutual port visits by naval vessels. As part of recent personnel and educational exchanges, two Ecuadorian Navy officers (captains) participated for the first time last year in the international anti-submarine warfare course hosted by the Republic of Korea Navy, and next year, an Ecuadorian Navy cadet will enroll for the first time at the Republic of Korea Naval Academy.
