Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced that it will hold a “Urban Rail Traffic Controller Experience Event” on April 30 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Busan Urban Railway, and is recruiting 10 families to participate until April 16.
This event, the first of its kind for the corporation, offers ordinary citizens the opportunity to experience the work of a traffic controller. It aims to help participants better understand urban rail traffic control operations and to strengthen communication with citizens. Official Busan Transportation Corporation merchandise will be provided as souvenirs to participants.
Participants will visit the Railroad Talent and Technology Institute’s Rail Traffic Control Training Center, where they will experience programs such as career and train control activities, a tour of the simulated rail traffic controller system, and emergency response controller training. In addition, the event will include visits to the “Hopo Train Depot” and “Hopo Signal Branch,” both being opened to the public for the first time, where participants can directly experience urban rail signal systems and control operations.
Applications can be submitted through the Busan Transportation Corporation website until April 16, and any citizen interested in urban railways is eligible to apply. A total of 10 families will be selected through a computerized lottery, with the results announced on April 18.
