Guro-gu Conducts Forest Education with Infant Forest Experience Center and Forest Interpretation
Operation of Early Childhood Forest Experience Centers for Daycare and Kindergarten Children
Forest Interpretation Programs Offered for All Ages, from Children to Adults
Guro-gu (Mayor Jang In-hong) announced that it will operate the ‘Early Childhood Forest Experience Center’ and ‘Forest Interpretation Program’ as part of its 2025 forest education.
The district has prepared diverse forest education programs that combine experience and learning in nature to enhance ecological sensitivity and promote healthy living among residents.
The ‘Early Childhood Forest Experience Center’ is targeted at daycare and kindergarten children and will offer various educational activities at four locations within the area: Jatjeol, Neunggolsan, Gaewoongsan, and Gaewootgaewoot Early Childhood Forest Experience Centers.
The education consists of natural learning and outdoor play with early childhood forest instructors, Korea Forest Service certified programs, and healing programs related to garden therapy, designed to increase understanding of nature through various sensory activities and ecological experiences in the forest, while fostering creativity and social skills.
Additionally, in autumn, a family festival at the Early Childhood Forest will be held to create precious memories with families.
The ‘Forest Interpretation Program’ is open to a wide range of age groups from children to adults. Professional forest interpreters will explain the value of nature and ecosystems on local hiking trails and parks, allowing participants to experience nature firsthand while walking through forest paths.
The program offers customized forest education tailored to different groups, including visiting school forests, family forest healing days, healing walks (barefoot walking, Nordic walking), youth career exploration programs, and horticultural forests for the elderly.
