This fundraising campaign has seen voluntary participation from citizens with no personal ties to the area, sharing warmth and compassion for the local community. Notably, some donors have chosen to forgo thank-you gifts, emphasizing the pure spirit of giving.
On the 2nd, a woman in her 70s from Daegu took an early morning bus to personally visit the Uiseong County Office, where she donated a piggy bank containing 113,000 won and an additional 1 million won in cash. She said, "I want to offer even a small help to the residents affected by the wildfire," and added, "I hope for a swift recovery."
Kim Jusu, the governor of Uiseong County, stated, "I deeply thank everyone who has joined in this warm act of sharing for their hometown," and added, "We will promptly use the donations to help affected residents return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Uiseong County plans to make every effort not only to support wildfire recovery through these donations but also to establish additional recovery measures.
