Dongdaemun-gu Supports Families with Newborns with '200,000 Won Points'
Changed from the Previous 50,000 KRW Gift Box to a Free Choice of Childcare Products
Select from Over 300 Items on the Online Mall for Birth Celebration Supplies Support
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is changing the method of providing birth celebration supplies from the existing 'gift box' to a 'point payment' system starting this year to offer more practical benefits.
This project was promoted to support families with newborns and to alleviate the economic burden associated with childcare.
Previously, a gift box worth 50,000 KRW was provided uniformly, but from this year, the system has been improved to provide points worth 200,000 KRW. Families with newborns can freely choose desired items from about 300 types of childcare products.
The support target is parents of newborns who have registered the birth in Dongdaemun-gu. After completing the birth registration through the local community service center or Government24, they can receive an authentication number and access the dedicated website. Applicants can directly select and order desired childcare products using the points, and receive them by delivery within 3 to 5 days after ordering.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We are making various efforts to create an environment that is good for having and raising children,” and added, “We will take the lead in solving the low birthrate problem through practical support that residents can feel.”
