At the meeting, Superintendent Lim emphasized, “We will create an evaluation system that is recognized and agreed upon not only by schools but also by universities.”
Superintendent Lim stated, “The Association of Provincial and Metropolitan Superintendents of Education and universities will cooperate to rediscover the essence of education and jointly develop a new admission system that cultivates future-oriented talents. We will establish a credible evaluation system that universities can also agree with to ensure the successful implementation of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education’s university admission reform plan.”
The university presidents attending the meeting positively evaluated the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education’s efforts to reform the university admission system, which is a key issue in our society.
One university president requested, “Please ensure that the fairness of the admission system is not compromised.” Another president asked, “Please reduce students’ academic burdens through the admission reform so that they can enjoy a happy school life.”
The reform plan specifically includes ▲ implementing a five-level absolute evaluation for student internal assessments ▲ gradually expanding written and essay-type tests starting with first-year middle school students in the 2026 academic year ▲ applying a full absolute evaluation and introducing written and essay-type assessments from the 2032 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) ▲ adjusting the timing of the CSAT and operating integrated early and regular admission processes.
