The Smart Senior Center project installs remote video systems and entertainment and educational kiosk devices in 12 representative senior centers in the area and at the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center studio, providing seniors with a variety of digital leisure programs.
Due to the rural characteristics of the region, seniors who have difficulty participating in cultural and leisure activities because of long distances will be offered various programs such as health exercise and singing classes through a two-way video system.
The county expects that, through this initiative, senior centers will evolve beyond their traditional functions into spaces where various services utilizing digital technology can be enjoyed.
The county plans to identify areas for improvement to ensure the successful establishment of Smart Senior Centers and to expand the program to other centers, offering a wider range of educational and leisure activities.
A county official stated, "Smart Senior Centers are expected not only to provide convenience to seniors, but also to enrich and enhance their lives," and added, "We will continue to make efforts so that seniors can enjoy an even happier life in the future."
