Yeongyang County Operates Special Desk for Free Rental of Agricultural Machinery to Farms Affected by Wildfires

The Agricultural Machinery Rental Center in Yeongyang-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, has decided to temporarily provide free rental of agricultural machinery to local farmers affected by wildfires, starting from April 1 until the end of the disaster.

Based on the damage status data from the Agricultural Disaster Investigation TF Team, farmers who apply to rent machinery will have their rental and transportation fees fully waived upon submission of a damage confirmation certificate.

Additionally, 64 units of agricultural machinery (including tractors and 9 other types, funded by 400 million KRW from the county budget) necessary for free rental were urgently purchased. Yecheon-gun and Uljin-gun also provided support by delivering agricultural machinery (3 tractors and 6 cultivators) to Yeongyang-gun through the ‘Agricultural Machinery Sharing Event’ organized by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government. Furthermore, the provincial government will provide a special supplementary budget (500 million KRW in national and provincial funds) for the purchase of agricultural machinery for wildfire-affected areas, including Yeongyang-gun.

With the farming season approaching, the provincial government, Gyeongbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services, Nonghyup, farmers’ organizations, and agricultural work support teams plan to provide various forms of assistance through close collaboration within the agricultural sector.

County Governor Oh Dochang stated, “We will do our utmost to provide administrative support to help affected farmers restore their daily lives and normalize agricultural operations.”
