Woman in Her 70s Dies After Being Hit by Car While Crossing Street in Goseong, Gyeongnam
A woman in her 70s was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Goseong, Gyeongnam.
The Goseong Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, has been booked without detention and is under investigation.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of fatally hitting Ms. B, a woman in her 70s, while driving his car near the Georyu Sports Park in Georyu-myeon, Goseong-gun, at around 7:20 p.m. on the 1st.
Immediately after the accident, Ms. B was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but ultimately passed away.
It was confirmed that Mr. A was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license at the time of the accident.
He reportedly stated that he did not see the pedestrian in time due to the darkness at night.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, including the speed of the vehicle at the time, based on the driver's statement and footage from the car's black box.
