Mujugun to Establish High-Altitude Youth Lease-Type Smart Farm Complex
Promoting Influx of Young Farmers
Supporting Their Stable Settlement
Muju County in North Jeolla Province is focusing on creating a 'Highland Youth Rental Smart Farm Complex' to encourage the influx of young farmers and support their stable settlement.
According to the county on the 1st, the 'Highland Youth Rental Smart Farm Complex' project was initiated to establish a regional base for the spread of smart farms. With a project budget of approximately 23.2 billion KRW, a 6.15-hectare smart farm, including infrastructure, will be built in the areas of Jeungsan-ri and Jiseong-ri in Mupung-myeon.
The county plans to construct four rental-type smart farms and two seedling nurseries, including a management training center, which will be used to produce summer strawberries and salad lettuce, among other crops.
Of particular note, there are plans to link the operation of the rental smart farm complex to young and middle-aged adults who have completed management training, drawing significant attention. On the 28th of last month, an informational session was held in Mupung-myeon.
This event was organized to help residents understand the 'Highland Youth Rental Smart Farm Complex' project, with residents from four neighboring villages and related organizations in attendance. The session shared topics such as the establishment of a smart horticulture complex base and the necessity of supporting and promoting low-carbon energy joint-use facilities.
Lee Jongcheol, Director of Technology Research at the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Since this project requires a significant initial investment, it will be operated in a way that reduces the economic burden through leasing while providing broader management opportunities. As a large amount of the county's budget is being invested, we will thoroughly review and respond to potential issues from the early stages, making this a sustainable alternative for Muju agriculture."
