Gangnam-gu Provides Emergency Support of 175 Million Won for Wildfire Damage
Fundraising Campaign to Continue Until Next Month
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 31st that it will urgently provide donations and supplies worth 175 million KRW to help residents of the Yeongnam region who lost their homes due to a large forest fire, and will conduct a comprehensive fundraising campaign through the ‘Hope Sharing Campaign’ until the 18th of next month.
To aid in the recovery of the wildfire-affected areas, Gangnam-gu will deliver a total of 40 million KRW in donations to eight local governments declared as special disaster zones in two rounds on the 31st of this month and April 2nd. Earlier, on the 29th, the Gangnam-gu Volunteer Center provided practical assistance by supporting Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk, with snacks, daily necessities (underwear, socks, towels, etc.) worth 60 million KRW through Bithumb Nanum sponsorship.
Furthermore, on the 1st of next month, a delegation from Gangnam-gu and Bithumb Nanum plan to visit the gymnasium in Andong-si, Gyeongbuk, in person to urgently provide 3,000 sets of training suits worth 75 million KRW.
The district is conducting a fundraising campaign targeting public officials, residents, and organizations in cooperation with the Gangnam-gu Volunteer Center and the Gangnam Welfare Foundation. Fundraising among public officials took place from the 27th to the 31st, and from the 31st, the ‘Hope Sharing Campaign’ is being actively promoted for general residents and organizations.
For donations of goods, items can be sent to the Gangnam-gu Volunteer Center (02-3445-5152, 9182), and monetary donations can be received by the Gangnam Welfare Foundation (02-3446-1612, 1568, 9928) and deposited into the dedicated Woori Bank account.
