Police Conduct Additional Investigation into Former Secretary Who Accused Jang Je-won of Sexual Assault
Securing the Victim's Statement from Three Years Ago
The police have summoned A, a former secretary who filed a complaint against former People Power Party lawmaker Jang Je-won, for an additional interrogation.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Women's Safety Division announced on the 30th that A was called in for the third time to be questioned about the sexual assault allegations against former lawmaker Jang.
The police secured a written statement from A detailing circumstances of sexual assault that occurred three years ago. The statement reportedly includes information that A reported the sexual assault to counseling agencies and the police after being assaulted by former lawmaker Jang, and that Jang handed A an envelope containing money.
A filed a complaint on November 17, 2015, accusing former lawmaker Jang, who was then a vice president of a university in Busan, of quasi-rape and injury, claiming that the assault took place at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul.
