Jeongeup City Named 'Excellent Institution' for Active Administration Evaluation Four Years in a Row
Hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
"Administration That Citizens Can Truly Feel"
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province has been selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the '2024 Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration by Local Governments' organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, maintaining its position as the only city in the province to achieve this distinction for four consecutive years (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024).
According to the city on the 31st, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety annually selects local governments that have achieved outstanding results in promoting proactive administration and institutional improvement, as well as in the perceived effectiveness and satisfaction felt by citizens, among 243 local governments nationwide to establish a culture of proactive governance.
This year's evaluation targeted 243 local governments across the country and was judged by a comprehensive evaluation panel and a citizen evaluation panel composed of private experts, based on a total of 5 categories and 17 detailed indicators, including proactive administrative system improvement, efforts to promote proactive administration, and implementation performance.
The top 30% of evaluated governments?5 metropolitan and 68 basic local governments?were selected as excellent institutions.
The city has strengthened its institutional foundation by producing and distributing a proactive administration manual and guidelines, and by selecting outstanding proactive public officials, all with the goal of fostering a proactive administrative culture that citizens can truly feel.
Additionally, the city has worked to spread a culture of proactive administration throughout the organization by protecting proactive public officials and promoting exemplary cases.
These efforts led to winning the Excellence Award at last year's 'Proactive Administration Best Practices Competition' hosted by North Jeolla Province, and the city also received high marks for the leadership of its head and the improved awareness of its public officials.
Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "Being the only city in the province to receive an excellent rating for four consecutive years in this evaluation is recognition of our ongoing efforts for citizen satisfaction in administration," and added, "We will continue to practice proactive administration to make Jeongeup an even better place to live."
