On the first day of early voting for the April 2 by-elections, candidates for the Damyang County governor re-election in Jeollanam-do participated in voting one after another, appealing for voters' support.
Lee Jaejong (No. 1), candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Jeong Cheolwon (No. 3), candidate of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, each cast their ballots at early voting stations in Damyang County on the morning of the 28th.

View original imageCandidate Lee stated, "Only by voting can Damyang change, and furthermore, Korea can change as well. I hope that in this election, which is being contested on a party-to-party basis, a high voter turnout will demonstrate the strength of Damyang residents."
Candidate Jeong said, "I quietly participated in the vote, hoping that this re-election will become a turning point for Damyang's development. After the election, we must work together to create a united Damyang through communication and harmony."
As of 2 p.m. on the first day of early voting, the turnout for the Damyang County governor re-election stood at 14.79%. At the same time, the by-election for Goheung County Council recorded 20%, and the Gwangyang City Council by-election marked 1.29%.
Meanwhile, in the Damyang County Council by-election, Noh Daehyun of the Democratic Party of Korea was elected unopposed as the sole candidate. The early voting for the April 2 by-elections will be held for two days until the 29th, and the main vote will take place on April 2 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
