Gwangju Social Workers Association Holds 19th Gwangju Social Workers Day Commemoration Event
The Gwangju City Social Workers Association in Gyeonggi Province held the “19th Gwangju City Social Workers Day” commemorative event on the 28th at the Gwangju Youth Training Center.

View original imageAbout 150 people attended the event, including social welfare-related officials, Gwangju Mayor Bang Se-hwan, members of the National Assembly, and city and provincial councilors. The event proceeded in the order of a pre-ceremony performance, the oath-taking by social welfare counseling students from Dongwon University, awards for meritorious persons in the social welfare field, and a performance to revitalize the local economy.
Additionally, in the second part of the program, a special lecture titled “Positive Network” was delivered by instructor Jeong Hyeong-woo (Runaway Edu) to enhance the positive energy of social workers, receiving great response from the social workers.
Kim Gil-su, president of the Gwangju City Social Workers Association, said, “We thank the guests who congratulated us on the 19th Social Workers Day, and we ask for much encouragement and support for the social workers who are fulfilling their duties with strong dedication and passion despite difficult working conditions.”
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “I feel honored to hold the commemorative ceremony together with the social workers of Gwangju City who dedicate themselves in their respective positions and stand with neighbors in hardship in the shadows of society,” adding, “Gwangju City will make every effort to create a good working environment for social workers.”

Meanwhile, the Gwangju City Social Workers Association, established in 2016, commemorates “Social Workers Day” every March 30 to celebrate the enactment of the “Act on the Treatment and Status Improvement of Social Workers, etc.” and to promote the advocacy of social workers’ rights and the development of local social welfare.
