Gwangju Office of Education Raises Donations to Help Wildfire-Affected Areas
Voluntary Participation of Faculty and Staff Starting from the 31st
Support for Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Other Regions through Sarangui Yeolmae
The Gwangju Office of Education is launching a fundraising campaign among its faculty and staff to support recovery efforts and assist residents affected by the large-scale wildfires in the Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions.
The Gwangju Office of Education announced on the 28th that it will collect donations from faculty and staff at education support offices, affiliated institutions, and schools from the 31st until April 16th. The fundraising will be conducted on a voluntary basis, and the collected donations will be delivered to the affected areas through the Community Chest of Korea (Sarangui Yeolmae).
Previously, as the national wildfire disaster alert was raised to the 'serious' level due to the large-scale wildfires, the Office of Education took preemptive measures by providing fire prevention guidance to all affiliated institutions and operating an emergency work system.
Superintendent Lee Jungseon stated, "I hope this fundraising activity will, even in a small way, help the affected residents return to their daily lives quickly," and added, "We will continue to do our best to ensure safety in educational settings."
