According to the province on the 28th, a kick-off briefing for the 'Chungnam Gim Industry Development Plan Research Project' was held at the provincial government’s cultural and arts center.
The briefing was attended by about 20 participants, including Jeon Sangwook, Director of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, researchers from Pukyong National University, and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI). The event included a project plan presentation by Professor Kim Jiwung of Pukyong National University and a discussion session.
The province plans to use this research to derive mid- to long-term strategies by linking the Gim Industry Promotion Act and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ basic plan for Gim industry promotion with Chungnam’s own Gim industry development plan.
Based on the research results, the province also intends to set policy goals for the Gim industry for the next ten years and identify detailed strategic tasks for each sector.
Jeon Sangwook, Director of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, stated, "Chungnam is a major region for Gim production and processing in Korea, with high growth potential. Through this research project, we will concretize future strategies for the local Gim industry, communicate with industry stakeholders, and establish effective policies."
