Ministry of the Interior and Safety Expands Wildfire Damage Field Support Teams to 7 Units
Expanding from 2 Teams to 7 Teams in Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam
The on-site support teams responding to wildfire damage in Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam will be expanded from the existing 2 teams to 7 teams.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 28th that it will expand and operate the 'Wildfire Damage On-site Support Teams' to provide prompt assistance to residents affected by the large wildfires in the Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam regions.
The on-site support teams, which were previously operated as 2 teams, will increase to a total of 7 teams covering 5 cities/counties in Gyeongbuk (Andong, Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, Yeongdeok) and 2 in Gyeongnam (Sancheong, Hadong).
The on-site support teams focus on identifying the support status for disaster victims in each city/county, assessing additional support needs, proposing system improvements at the city/county level, and confirming difficulties to provide comprehensive assistance to the disaster victims.
Ko Gi-dong, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (acting Minister of the Interior and Safety), holds daily video conferences with the 7 support teams to oversee relief and support for the disaster victims.
