The Hantan River Media Art Park is a large-scale nighttime tourism content project strategically promoted by Pocheon City. It gained momentum after being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Border Area Development Support Project (East-West Geopark Network Construction Project).
Additionally, this year, the installation project of landscape lighting for the Y-shaped suspension bridge was selected for the Gyeonggi Province Tourism Resource Development Support Project, expanding the scale of the project.
The Media Art Park will be developed around the Bidulginang Waterfall area in Daehwaesan-ri, Yeongbuk-myeon, and the Hantan River Ecological Landscape Complex in Jung-ri, Gwanin-myeon, linked with existing tourism infrastructure such as trails, the Hantan River Sky Bridge, and the Y-shaped suspension bridge.
In particular, the park will introduce the latest information and communication technology (ICT)-based media content, including △ Hantan River columnar joint media show △ large mechanical (automata) sculptures △ ultra-large video projection (projection mapping) △ forest media safari utilizing the columnar joint forest trail.
Through this, the project aims to enhance the brand value of the Pocheon Hantan River UNESCO Global Geopark and create the largest natural landscape-type media theme park in Korea based on the unique content of the Pocheon Hantan River.
Kim Jong-hoon, Deputy Mayor of Pocheon City, said, "The Hantan River Media Art Park, combined with immersive nighttime tourism, will breathe new life into tourism at the Pocheon Hantan River." He added, "Since the Hantan River is the best resource driving Pocheon City's future growth, we will do our best to promote the project to revitalize the local economy and attract tourists."
