As a result of the crackdown, 81 sites showed no particular issues, but 25 sites were found to have illegally carried out landfilling by dumping recycled soil or conducting development activities without obtaining development permits and dust emission reports.
Paju City immediately ordered the suspension of soil import and construction work on the landfill sites where violations were detected and requested restoration for the inappropriate soil import. If restoration is not carried out following future inspections, the city plans to take legal action by reporting to judicial authorities and registering the sites as accident locations.
Paju City plans to deploy six members of the Illegal Landfill Monitoring Team to the sites for immediate response in case of illegal landfilling, continue inspections to prevent illegal activities, and focus on minimizing damage to citizens. The city also plans to conduct additional inspections in areas where illegal landfilling frequently occurs, such as Papyeong-myeon, Jeokseong-myeon, Tanhyeon-myeon, and Munsan-eup.
