[Special Stock] Xperix Gains Attention as Subsidiary Files 'Trillion-Won' Lawsuit Against Nvidia
Xperix is showing strength. It is interpreted that this is influenced by the news that its subsidiary Intellectual Discovery (ID) has filed a trillion-won lawsuit against NVIDIA in the United States.
As of 10:46 AM on the 28th, Xperix is trading at 4,265 KRW, up 3.4% compared to the previous day.
According to the industry, the Korean patent management specialist company (NPE) 'Intellectual Discovery (ID)' along with its affiliate Silicon Arts submitted a patent complaint against NVIDIA to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas on the 21st.
The core of the complaint is that NVIDIA has been using the technology owned by Silicon Arts without permission for at least five years by introducing ray tracing in many products, from the 'RTX series' to the latest product 'Blackwell,' including gaming and data center products.
The patent was filed in Korea in May 2009 by Professor Park Woo-chan of Sejong University and Silicon Arts, followed by an international patent application in 2010. It was filed in the U.S. in March 2016 and fully transferred to Silicon Arts in 2019. NVIDIA is known to have unveiled a graphics processing unit (GPU) utilizing this technology in 2018.
