The Gwangju City Public Officials' Ethics Committee disclosed the "2025 Regular and Occasional Asset Change Reports" for 76 individuals subject to asset disclosure on the electronic gazette on the 27th.
According to the Public Officials' Ethics Act, those subject to asset disclosure must report any changes in their assets by the end of February each year, and the government and relevant Public Officials' Ethics Committees are required to make this information public within one month.
This year, the Gwangju City jurisdiction includes a total of 76 individuals subject to asset disclosure: 7 heads of public institutions and 69 district council members. The average reported assets were 1,017,160,000 KRW, a decrease of 267,850,000 KRW compared to last year's average of 1,285,010,000 KRW.
By total asset amount, 27 individuals (35.5%) held less than 500,000,000 KRW, the largest group; 25 individuals (32.9%) had between 500,000,000 and 1,000,000,000 KRW; and 24 individuals (31.6%) held more than 1,000,000,000 KRW.
Among them, 43 individuals (56.6%) saw their assets increase due to changes in real estate value or savings, while 33 individuals (43.4%) experienced a decrease in assets due to refusal to disclose or the occurrence of debt.
The Gwangju City Public Officials' Ethics Committee plans to review the sincerity of the asset change reports disclosed this time by the end of June. If the review finds that assets were falsely reported or misreported due to gross negligence, or if confidential information obtained through official duties was used for personal gain, measures such as warnings, corrective orders, fines, or requests for dismissal or disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the Public Officials' Ethics Act.
Meanwhile, the Government Public Officials' Ethics Committee disclosed the asset details of 32 individuals from the Gwangju area, including metropolitan mayors, high-ranking officials (Grade 1 and above), metropolitan council members, and heads of basic local governments, in the official gazette on the 27th.
