Hapcheon County Mobilizes All Administrative Resources as Forest Fire Disaster Reaches 'Severe' Level
One-Fourth of All Employees on Emergency Duty
Until the Forest Fire Crisis Alert Is Lifted
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam is mobilizing all administrative resources for forest fire prevention and response, following the nationwide simultaneous occurrence of large-scale wildfires in nearby Sancheong County, Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk, and Ulju County in Ulsan, as well as the issuance of the national forest fire disaster crisis alert at the "Severe" level.
With the national forest fire disaster crisis alert remaining at the 'Severe' level, Hapcheon County has activated its Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, and one-fourth of all employees are on emergency duty until the crisis alert is lifted.

View original imageEach department has been assigned a specific area, and an average of about 200 employees per day are continuously conducting forest fire monitoring and promotional activities. They are also intensively cracking down on the burning of agricultural by-products and waste incineration near forest areas.
In addition, local towns and villages are holding emergency meetings with village heads to eradicate burning activities near forests and to promote forest fire prevention, while also strengthening patrols in wildfire-prone areas in cooperation with private organizations.
County Governor Kim Yooncheol stated, "With dry weather and strong winds, the risk of large-scale wildfires is extremely high. In this time of national disaster, we will do our utmost to prevent forest fires by coming together as one."
