Lee Sangcheon, Former President of Yeungnam University, Appointed as Next President of Dongmyung University
Lee Sangcheon, former president of Yeungnam University, has been appointed as the 11th president of Tongmyong University.
On the 26th, the board of directors of Tongmyong Cultural Foundation (Chairman Kang Kyungsoo) announced that Lee was unanimously selected. His term will last for four years starting from April 1.
The new president graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, earned a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from KAIST, and received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University.
Currently serving as an emeritus professor at Yeungnam University, he has previously held positions such as professor at Yeungnam University, head of the Changwon Cluster Promotion Team, president of the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, chairman of Gyeongbuk Technopark, board member at KAIST and UNIST, advisory member of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development, member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology, chairman of the National Research Council of Science & Technology, and chairman of the University of Science and Technology Steering Committee.
President Lee expressed his intention to practice clean and responsible leadership based on Tongmyong University's founding philosophy of "seeking truth from facts" (Silsagusi).
He emphasized, "I will establish transparent university management based on mutual respect among university members and achieve sustainable development for Tongmyong University."
