Seoul City to Assist Wildfire Victims with Public and Private Sectors... Providing Meal Trucks and Daily Necessities
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is joining hands with the private and public sectors to provide support to the wildfire-affected areas that are spreading.
On the 26th, Seoul announced that it has formed a joint task force (TF) with the Seoul Chapter of the Korean Red Cross and the Seoul Volunteer Center, designating the External Cooperation Division as the 'Yeongnam Wildfire Support Center' to provide assistance until the situation is resolved.
The Yeongnam Wildfire Support Center will perform rapid support functions through real-time monitoring of necessary supplies from local governments and cooperation with Seoul and partner organizations to assist evacuees in wildfire disaster areas such as Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan.
Earlier, the city had delivered 500 million KRW in disaster relief funds to the wildfire-affected areas. In addition to supporting firefighting equipment and personnel, essential daily items such as shelters and food trucks are being provided through cooperation with the private sector. The Korean Red Cross has supplied 349 shelters (tents), 7,366 bedding sets, and 24,600 bottles of beverages. Korean McDonald's, a partner of the Seoul Volunteer Center, donated 1,200 hamburger sets, and HK Innoen provided 3,000 bottles of beverages to the wildfire-affected areas.
As the wildfire spreads, Seoul has formed a TF and is operating an emergency communication system with the affected regions, deciding to immediately provide essential items such as food trucks, shelters, bedding, and food and beverages. Following the deployment of two food trucks to Uiseong and two to Sancheong and Cheongsong on the 25th, an additional two food trucks will be urgently sent from the 27th in cooperation with the Korea Restaurant Association and Sarang's Food Truck.
Furthermore, in solidarity with the Seoul Chapter of the Korean Red Cross, the Seoul Volunteer Center, and partner companies, the city plans to ensure that evacuees receive necessary supplies timely and sufficiently.
Additionally, the city is considering further support beyond the disaster relief funds already provided for the recovery of the affected areas. From the 26th, fundraising activities will be conducted for ten days targeting Seoul city and district officials.
