View original imageThe Gwangju branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) is launching a general strike, calling for the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol by the Constitutional Court.
On the 26th, the Gwangju branch of the KCTU issued a press release stating, "Yoon Sukyeol has been released, and the Constitutional Court's ruling is being delayed," adding, "The forces behind the rebellion are denying their crimes and are obsessed with extending their regime. The daily lives of workers and citizens are being destroyed, and anxiety is growing."
They continued, "Therefore, on the 27th, the Gwangju branch will give up a day of daily life and gather in the square to hold a 'Yoon Sukyeol Immediate Impeachment' general strike and all-out struggle rally," adding, "About 1,000 workers affiliated with the KCTU Gwangju branch are determined to break through any obstacles, even if it means digging a tunnel through a mountain, and will participate in the 'Yoon Sukyeol Immediate Impeachment' all-out rally."
After the workers' rally, the Gwangju branch will march to the front of the courthouse. They are then scheduled to attend the Gwangju Citizens' General Rally held at the May 18 Square.
