Chungnam Province to Create 100,000 Jobs This Year... Aiming for 70.4% Employment Rate
Announcement of the "2025 Job Policy Implementation Plan"
On the 26th, Chungnam Province announced a plan to invest 1 trillion won in its budget this year to create 100,000 new jobs.
According to the province's "2025 Job Policy Implementation Plan," a total of 938.3 billion won from national and provincial funds will be invested to create 100,668 new jobs and achieve an employment rate of 70.4% among those aged 15 to 64, through the implementation of 131 detailed projects.
By job type, the budget will be allocated as follows: 430.7 billion won (45.9%) for direct jobs, 289.2 billion won (30.8%) for job infrastructure, 66.6 billion won (7.1%) for employment services, 65.1 billion won (6.9%) for corporate support, and 52.9 billion won (5.6%) for employment incentives.
By age group and demographic, the plan aims to newly create 167 jobs for youth, 55,786 for middle-aged and elderly, 589 for women, 1,747 for people with disabilities, 2,224 for vulnerable groups, 39,555 for the general public, and 600 for foreigners.
Park Jongbok, Director of Economic Planning for the province, stated, "This year, we plan to resolve labor shortages and invigorate the local economy through job creation projects tailored to the region's characteristics," adding, "We will continue to improve and discover job policies in collaboration with relevant organizations and experts."
Local governments are required to announce regional job targets and policies every year in accordance with the Framework Act on Employment Policy.
