On the 26th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 80th Arbor Day tree planting event at the Hwangtotgil area of Seongjusa in Seongsan-gu.

View original imageSeongjusa Hwangtotgil, a popular healing spot in Changwon frequented by many citizens, is a walking trail harmonized with a valley. For this event, about 100 participants, including kindergarteners and citizens, planted 130 maple trees and 2,000 green tea trees.
In the future, the maple trees are expected to enhance the autumn scenery of Bulmosan, while the fire-resistant green tea trees are anticipated to provide the added benefit of helping to prevent forest fires.
Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo stated, "We express deep concern over the recent damage caused by large-scale forest fires. Along with creating future forests, managing existing forests is also important," adding, "We will do our best to ensure citizen safety and protect our precious forests."
