Yeongju City Temporarily Postpones 'Tree Distribution' Event
Concerns Over the Spread of Large-Scale Wildfires in Neighboring Cities and Counties
Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, has decided to temporarily postpone the "Tree Distribution Event," which was scheduled to be held jointly with the Yeongju National Forest Management Office of the Southern Regional Forest Service on the 27th in celebration of the 80th Arbor Day.
The Tree Distribution Event is held annually to commemorate Arbor Day, aiming to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of tree planting and to encourage the practice of carbon neutrality. Yeongju City has been distributing a variety of tree seedlings free of charge so that citizens can easily plant and nurture trees, thereby promoting a greener lifestyle.
However, due to recent large-scale wildfires in the province, the Korea Forest Service has raised the national wildfire disaster alert to its highest level, "Severe." Accordingly, Yeongju City has decided to temporarily postpone the event, prioritizing the safety of its citizens.
